Personally? Child-free.

Personally? I’d be a great mother. I’ve been taking care of babies and children since I was 7 years old. I have a degree in Child Development. I taught preschool for 6 years.

Unfortunately, the little rascal who would have hit the jackpot of being my spawn never will.

Because I chose, long ago, not to have children.

I’ve had nothing done to my body, it’s just my ongoing choice in life. I could explain why I don’t want kids, but really, the simple fact that I don’t want any should be enough for anyone. No one is the judge on if my reasons are valid.

People who have children love to puff themselves up and act like they can bestow some knowledge on my impressionable, childless mind, until I inform them of my extensive experience with babies and children. After they recover from that shock, they then switch gears and try to convince me that my decision to be child-free is the wrong one. They usually tell me to wait until I’m [insert age]. To which I almost always get to say that I’ve already surpassed said age (Black don’t crack, y’all). The bold ones will go so far as to tell me I’m just being selfish.

Someone recently asked me what would happen if I accidentally got pregnant. I plainly told him I would get rid of it. When he recoiled and told me what I said was mean, I said to him, “You know what’s even MORE mean? Raising a kid you don’t want.” He saw my point. Or he gave up on me as a lost cause, I don’t really care either way.
